January 1. Petersburg. D. B. Shostakovich is awarded the Order of St. Stanislav, 3rd degree, for his impeccable five-year service as the head of the 1st verification tent at the Main Chamber of Weights and Measures, which he signed in the "Record of payment of the fee for the bestowed order" on April 30.
August. Petersburg. The Shostakoviches move to Podolskaya St., Building 2, Apt. 16.
September 12. Petersburg. D. B. and S. V. Shostakovich have a son, Dmitry (Dmitry), which is recorded in the register of births of the Petrograd Spiritual Consistory.
September 26. Petersburg. On the day of remembrance of the Apostle John the Theologian, the sacrament of baptism of the Shostakoviches' son takes place. Initially, the parents wanted to name their son Yaroslav, but at baptism he received the name Dmitry (Dimitri). The baptism ceremony was performed by the rector of the house church of St. Nicholas the Wonderworker at the House of Charity and Crafts Education for Poor Children of Tsarevich Nicholas, Archpriest Vissarion Nekrasov, and the psalm-reader Nikolai Veltishchev. The godparents were the mining engineer P. I. Polevoy and the widow of a state councilor, the writer K. V. Lukashevich-Khmyznikova. The location of the baptism ceremony has not been precisely established. It could have taken place in the Church of St. Nicholas the Wonderworker. According to the memoirs of N. V. Galli-Shohat, the baptism ceremony took place in the Shostakovichs' apartment.
